Under the weight of Model Minority tears / truck nuts
I consider the past 10 years I’ve spent living in white-dominate communities from coal country to wine country to oil country
I consider the phrase “there’s no such thing as racism against Asians”
I consider my experiences of being the Token Asian
I consider tokens of redneck pride
I consider the plague of fragile masculinity
I consider shared experiences of other folks of color
It lifts me up from the dense loneliness I used to feel for existing in this skin suit
